ALFALFA
Alfalfa plants vary in height between 30and 90 cm, and grow a taproot reaching down to three meters, or deeper. In Polish conditions it is a biannual or triennial crop. As high-protein green fodder, hay or hay silage, alfalfa is well respected amongst cattle farmers, both in dairy and beef production. Alfalfa proves very advantageous when grown in mixtures with grasses, as it increases energy value of the fodder by balancing protein and hydrocarbons.
