Seed Company Granum Sp.J. has been established in 1993, and Since its very beginning it is active in seed production and grass mixture composition for forage and turf, as well as specialist purposes such as roadside greens, motorway median strips, and green cover for terrain prone to erosion i.e. escarpments, industrial waste heaps and waste dumps.

Post-construction terrain is characterized by very irregular soil structure. In practice, physical and chemical qualities of the soil are hard to determine. When composing a mixture, the usual approach is to compensate the lack of data on the habitat with a more diversified mixture composition. Grass mixtures intended for reclamation of difficult terrain need to posses certain qualities. The first and most basic of these qualities is reduced soil requirements, and the second, equally important one is tolerance to high acidity of the soil as well as concentration of heavy metals in it. It is also very important to choose species with a varied germination time.

 

Young plants at seedling stage are the most susceptible to draught-induced death and it is often difficult to provide sufficient irrigation on large areas. It therefore crucial to diversify the time of emergence of various components, so as to ensure correct establishment of as many of them as possible. The composition should include grasses with rapid development and sod building qualities - this is especially important for the securing of escarpments and amelioration ditches.

 

A young sward should not require frequent mowing or fertilizing. Grass mixtures offered by our company meet all of the above requirements and can be applied by means of various technologies i.e. pure sowing, hydro-seeding or biodegradable nonwovens.
